At the University of California, San Diego (UCSD), Steven Wasserman has taught genetics, developmental biology, and physiology to undergraduate, graduate, and medical students. He earned an A.B. in Biology from Harvard University and a Ph.D. in Biological Sciences from MIT. His research on regulatory circuits in the fruit fly Drosophila has contributed significantly to the fields of developmental biology, immunology, and reproduction.
During his faculty appointments at UCSD and the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center, Steve taught and mentored students across multiple levels of training. Beyond the classroom, he has guided more than 50 undergraduate and high school researchers, as well as more than 10 Ph.D. students, helping nurture the next generation of scientists.
